IRCC has issued invitations to apply (ITAs) to 763 candidates in the latest Express Entry draw and in the latest draw only Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates were targeted. To receive an invitation in this draw, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 690.
• ITA – 763
• CRS Score - 690
The July month was notable active for the express entry draws during which IRCC issued over 25,000 ITAs across nine separate draws. It can be marked as the month of the most draws in a single month since the Express Entry system was launched in 2015. This surge represents a significant rebound from June, which saw only one draw.
July's draws included a diverse mix of category-based selection draws and program-specific draws. There were Four July draws which were category-based and out of which two draws specifically targeted candidates who were proficient in the French language. The July 18 draw also focused on French language proficiency and featured the lowest CRS score of the month at 400. The other two category-based draws were directed at candidates in healthcare and trade occupations and they reflected Canada's ongoing efforts to address labor shortages in these critical sectors.
Additionally, five of the July draws were program-specific out of which two draws focused on candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and three targeting PNP candidates. The highest CRS score requirement in July was for PNP candidates with a score of 739 in the July 2 draw.
The shift towards program-specific draws saw particularly after a year dominated by category-based and general draws and they highlighted IRCC's commitment to increasing permanent residency opportunities for individuals already residing in Canada. This approach aligns with the department’s recent strategy to reduce the number of temporary residents while still meeting the country's permanent resident admission targets.
These strategic changes underscore Canada's ongoing efforts to streamline the immigration process and ensure that the country's immigration system remains responsive to its evolving economic and demographic needs. As IRCC continues to refine its selection process, candidates can expect more targeted draws that address specific labor market needs and promote the settlement of skilled immigrants across the country.
