In the last two weeks of October 2025, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Programme (AAIP) held four chances to move to Alberta. There were a lot of different ways and programmes for more than 1,100 people to apply. There are still draws going on in Alberta to try to meet the needs of the job market and bring skilled workers to the province.
Most of the invitations came from the 900 people chosen by the Alberta Opportunity Stream. People from other countries who are working full-time in Alberta and have qualifying job offers from eligible employers can go through this stream. This shows that the province wants to keep smart, talented people who are in high demand. 142 people applied for the Dedicated Health Care Pathway. Most of them were qualified health care workers who had job offers in eligible positions. This helped fill important job openings in Alberta's health sector.
The Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Construction) picked 60 applicants who had jobs that were eligible and sometimes jobs that were available in Alberta. Around the same time, the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway sent job invitations to less than 10 people from the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police. This helped meet goals for hiring people in the area. It took at least a 42 on the Dedicated Health Care Pathway and a 60 on the Alberta Opportunity Stream and Express Entry Priority Sectors to get into the draws. For the Law Enforcement Pathway, you only needed a 46 to move on.
The number of nominations from the province of Alberta has been steadily rising. In January 2025, the AAIP got 4,875 names to choose from. That number went up to 6,603 in September after the government gave its OK. Alberta has given out 5,137 nominations so far, leaving 1,466 spots open. There was a lot of interest in the Alberta Opportunity Stream. Out of the 3,656 spots available, 2,755 were filled, and 31,149 people sent in Expressions of Interest. Many people have been nominated for the Alberta Express Entry Pathways in the tech, law enforcement, and priority sectors. The Tourism and Hospitality Pathways have given out 228 nominations, and the Dedicated Health Care Pathways have given out 487. All of these show how Alberta strategically divides nomination slots to meet the needs of different groups.
Overall, these draws and distributions show that Alberta is using targeted immigration programmes to help the economy grow and fill jobs that aren't being filled. Since its start, the AAIP has helped qualified people get jobs by giving priority to skilled workers in construction, health care, law enforcement, and other important fields. This fits with the province's goals for the job market.
