Canada has held the first Express Entry draw for August 2025. As part of the Provincial Nominee Programme (PNP), 225 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were sent to people who wanted to apply.
To get an ITA in this draw, candidates had to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 739. Also, they had to send in their Express Entry resume by April 23, 2025, 6:35 a.m. (UTC).
In July, there were a number of targeted selections. On July 21, the PNP draw gave out 202 ITAs and 788 CRS. On July 8, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw gave out 3,000 ITAs and 518 CRS. And on July 22, the healthcare-focused draw gave out 4,000 ITAs to people with a minimum CRS score of 475 who were applying for jobs in healthcare and social services.
So far in 2025, IRCC has given out 49,628 ITAs. These have been given out in 28 Express Entry draws. PNP candidates have gotten a lot of attention—14 draws have been made just for them. It was sent to people who met the requirements for the CEC (7 draws), French language skills (3 draws), healthcare and social services (3 draws), and education (1 draw).
Since June 10, IRCC has been following a normal draw schedule. Every two weeks, they switch between PNP and CEC selections. Social and health service draws have been held every month since May.

The August 6 draw is part of the department's ongoing plan to focus on immigration candidates who have been nominated by their home provinces. Most of the time, these candidates need higher CRS scores because getting nominated gives them an extra 600 points. Canada's immigration goals are based on work that people want and the country's economic needs. This means that the Express Entry system is still an important way to choose skilled immigrants.
To improve your chances of being chosen through Express Entry, you should check your CRS score, learn about your provincial nomination choices, and keep up with the category-based selection draws that are coming up.
