Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 174 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates who participated in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in its most recent Express Entry lottery. To be eligible for this draw, candidates had to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 816.
• ITA – 174 ( PNP)
• CRS Score – 816
This is the second consecutive week of Express Entry draws, following a large draw last week that resulted in 1,933 ITAs being issued. which draw in PNP streams, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and students who speak French.
The increasing frequency of draws aligns with the federal government’s aggressive immigration goals as articulated in the IRCC’s most recent Immigration Levels Plan. Canada's growing demand for skilled workers to address labor shortages is reflected in the proposal, which states that 124,680 Express Entry applications will be allowed in the same year.
Remarkably, the newly established In-Canada Focus category will receive over 82,000 of these admissions. This category, which primarily targets CEC candidates, may also include candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and PNP-aligned streams. This scheme, which prioritizes candidates who are already in Canada, is expected to speed up the application process for eligible workers looking for permanent residence.
The remaining 41,700 admissions will go to the Federal Economic Priorities group. This category places a high priority on selecting candidates with professional experience in disciplines that are in great demand in the Canadian labor market in order to further satisfy significant economic demands.
The Federal Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Federal Skilled Worker Program are all part of Canada's primary economic immigration application management system, Express Entry. Candidates are assessed using the CRS, a points-based system that considers factors like age, education, language proficiency, occupation, and work experience.
Additional CRS points are awarded for characteristics such as applying with a spouse or partner, having a sibling in Canada, or combining work experience and education from both Canada and other nations. Notably, candidates who receive a provincial nomination through improved PNP streams have a 600 CRS point higher probability of receiving an ITA.

The candidates with the highest CRS scores in the Express Entry pool are asked to apply for permanent residency during normal lotteries. Although the cut-off scores for CRS vary each draw and category, those who win provincial nominations often have a significant advantage due to the additional points awarded.
The IRCC's ongoing efforts to enhance the Express Entry system, in conjunction with the government's expanding immigration objectives, show a strong commitment to attracting highly qualified individuals who can contribute to Canada's economy and society. This focus on targeted draws that align with labor market demands ensures a robust immigration framework that supports regional and national agendas.
In order to improve their CRS scores, applicants who intend to enter the country through the Express Entry system are urged to stay up to date on draw trends and seek out opportunities to improve their language proficiency or apply for provincial nominations. Given that Express Entry is predicted to keep expanding, now is an excellent moment for eligible people to seize the opportunity to build a future in Canada.
