New language Proficiency test for Canada Immigration 

Soon, there will be another test that people from other countries who want to move to Canada can take to see how well they speak English. It was announced by Canada's Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship (IRCC) that the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Essentials can now be used to get into the country through its permanent economic immigration programmes.

The test is not being taken at this time, but IRCC has said that the website will be changed as soon as the process is over. TOEFL Essentials gives people who need to show they can speak and write English more choices. It is accepted along with other tests like IELTS and CELPIP.

Education Testing Service (ETS), the company that gives the TOEFL, said on August 21 that it had been legally approved by IRCC as a language testing provider. A news release from ETS said that the two organisations are working together to finish the steps that need to be taken before the test can be accept. More details will be given as soon as the test times and locations are known.

Who will be impacted with the new addition in the Language Proficiency test?

Most of the people who will be affected by this change are those who apply through IRCC's normal economic immigration programmes. Some of these are the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Programme (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Programme (FSTP). Express Entry takes care of them. Once it is fully rolled out, TOEFL Essentials will also be used by people who want to apply to the Atlantic Immigration Programme (AIP) and the Provincial Nominee Programmes (PNPs). Some places may not accept the test, though, since the PNP is run by each province and region.

Read, write, speak, and listen are the four important English language skills that the TOEFL Essentials test is meant to measure. TOEFL Essentials is different from other tests because it is based on tasks that are based on real-life conversations and show candidates how they might use English in those settings. People from all over the world will be able to take the test, which lasts about 90 minutes and will be given at safe test places in Canada and other countries.
